What We Believe

At the United Methodist Church at Newfoundland, we believe that:

God is the creator of all things in heaven and on earth. God is still creating and God’s grace is active in all of creation.

Jesus is the Son of God and by Christ’s life, death on a cross and resurrection our relationship to God is restored God making Jesus our Savior.

This is proof of God’s great love for us that Jesus was willing to die for us while we were yet sinners.

This unconditional love of God is called grace and is a gift from God that cannot be earned. This gift is available to all human beings.

The Holy Spirit is God’s active presence in our lives and in the world.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and contains all that is necessary for understanding our faith and leading a Christian life.

The Church is the “Body of Christ” in the world.

Its task is to be faithful in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, nurture and educate the faith of those who come to the church and then to send them out into the world to demonstrate the love of God and the grace of Jesus in their attitudes, words, and actions.

As a United Methodist congregation, we also adhere to the beliefs, doctrines, theology, polity, and principles of the United Methodist Church and invite you to explore these at www.umc.org.
